Welcome to The Jack McDowell School for Leadership Development, an arm of The Salvation Army Evangeline Booth College, USA Southern Territory!
This school is unique to the Southern Territory and the long-held dream of Mr. Jack McDowell. Understanding the need for growth and development of officers, soldiers, employees, and other constituents of Salvation Army leaders, the School was launched organizationally by the Territorial Commander in 2004, Commissioner Phil Needham. Mr. McDowell endowed the School, enabling contextualized and mission-infused curriculum that shape the person and practices of every leader.
Leader(ship) Development has many facets and forms. The goal of SLD is to provide ongoing leader resources and training. Leaders who continually work at personal growth and development in the areas of character and competencies will be a strong attraction for and help to those in their sphere of influence.
We offer the best practices from research and literature over the disciplines of Spiritual Formation, Business and Education as well as Spirit-led wisdom that shapes leaders who transform their worlds. The Salvation Army is not merely a corporate entity, although it possesses corporate characteristics. It is a part of the living, dynamic Body of Christ and, as such, submits to the Lordship and leadership of Jesus before offering anything that shapes the development of colleagues.
We are blessed to serve you and to serve with you!
