With the advent of Facebook religion, online church campuses, a myriad of Christian blogs and video streams, the effect technology has on the message of the Gospel is an ever-present debate raging in the Christian community. In Flickering Pixels: How Technology Shapes Your Faith, author Shane Hipps, takes an in depth look at how technology changes our perception, and in turn, changes our life and our faith without our knowledge or permission. The book explores the hidden power of media and technology, how the medium can manipulate the mind, and what affect that has on the how the gospel is spread. Many of us have dedicated our lives to effectively communicating the Gospel; however, we rarely consider how a particular medium can transform a message. Hipps poses the question, does the medium we use to share the Christian message affect the reception and clarity of the message. His wit, theological background, and years of experience working as a brand advertiser for Porche  leaves the reader contemplating how the ever-increasing presence of technology not only affects how they share the gospel, but how their understanding of the gospel has changed as a result of technology.
