From the Director’s Desk – May 2014

Before Jesus ascended back to heaven, he gathered his disciples together and declared:

“All authority hath been given unto me in heaven and on earth. Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world” (Mt. 28:18-20 ASV)

You have been given authority!  Some in our Territory are changing appointments.  Each appointment has its own lines of authority.  People work within frameworks of authority.  Jesus has given His disciples a framework of authority; namely, power to make disciples.   By His authority and in His power we are launched into the world as salt and light creating and living into the prayer He taught His disciples:  “on earth as it is in Heaven.”

We are privileged to create communities of Christ-followers.  A more accurate translation of Matthew 28: 18-20 is as you go make disciples.  Your appointment or new appointment is fertile ground for training disciples.  You do not need special tools, glitzy apparatus, the latest gadgets, or up-to-date social media.  These may give you entrée into special places at special times.  The quality of disciple-making is directly related to the quality of our relationship with Jesus.  He longs to share His power and authority with those whose character can handle it for the sake of the world!

We are considering the Great Commission this month.  Please enjoy the feature article by Major Roni Robbins as well as updated materials related to this month’s theme.  Additionally, we are posting videos, pictures and statements from those who just attended our annual cohort experience in Florida.  God showed up and we are all changed!
